Next October 18th, 2011 the city of Geneva will host the conference "Actions locales pour un impact global - Rio+20: Gouvernances locale et régionale pour une transition vers une économie verte"/ ”Local actions for a global impact- Rio+20 : Local and Regional Governance for a transition towards a green economy”. This event has been jointly organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Canton of Geneva. The main objective of this conference is to raise awareness and preparedness to the upcoming United Nations Conference on sustainable Development (Rio+20), which will take place from the 4th to the 6th of June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The organizers of this event are not only looking forward to associate this event to the UNEP initiative “Green Up Europe ” (see http://www.greenup-unep.org/), but also to the contribution of members of the civil society and the private sector. The speakers will be members of regional and local entities who will share their best experiences and practices. This event will take place in the Centre international de Conférences de Genève (CICG), 17 rue de Varembé, Geneva, Switzerland. This event is open to the general public, but previous registration is mandatory.
