Latest News Public Forum on Using PRTR Data to Support Community Environmental Health and Green Economy Initiatives in North America

The Forum on “Using PRTR Data to Support Community Environmental Health and Green Economy Initiatives in North America” took place from the 3rd to the 4th of November in Washington D.G. USA., as part of the annual North America PRTR Meeting. The main objective of this Forum, organized by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, was to provide the opportunity for citizens, industry, academia, governmental and nongovernmental organizations to share knowledge and ideas regarding the North American Pollution Release and Transfer Registers (PRTRs) and public access to pollution information. This meeting highlighted the CEC PRTR project developments, such as new tools to improve access to and analysis of PRTR data. The presenters’ background ranged from representatives of the environmental ministries of Canada, Mexico and the United States to experts on PRTRs in North America. Finally, during the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the national PRTR programs of Canada, Mexico and the United States with officials of each country program.
