Industrial sector in Honduras is trained on emission estimation techniques and the PRTR

The Secretariat of Natural Resources and Environment of Honduras (SERNA/CESCCO – acronym in Spanish), in coordination with the project on Strengthening National Capacities for the Management and Reduction of POPs Releases in Honduras (COPs2/PNUD/GEF), trained the industrial sector on emission estimation techniques and on how to report to the national Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) of Honduras (RETC Honduras in Spanish).

Chile celebrated on 2 May 2013 the official publication of its national Regulation on the "Registro de Emisiones y Transferencias de Contaminantes RETC" (Chile's PRTR).

UNEP Spotlights Mongolian Mercury-Free Processing Plant

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has spotlighted the successful replication of a mercury-free, small-scale processing facility in Mandal, Mongolia. The privately owned facility is a replication of a Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) and Mongolian Government pilot project.

Exploring North American industrial pollution data through Taking Stock Online

Five more hazardous chemicals regulated at international level

Following the decisions taken by the states participating in the triple conference on chemicals and hazardous waste in Geneva, which was concluded in May, five additional chemicals will be subject to international regulation. Representatives from almost 160 states participated in the conference of the three conventions for the environmental regulation of chemicals and hazardous waste.

Europe’s bathing waters continue to improve

According to the European Environment Agency's annual report on bathing water quality in Europe, the water quality is excellent at 78%. Ninety-four per cent of the European bathing sites now meet the standards for bathing water quality in the region which is a big improvement.
